9月2日、全国のファミリーマートで『旨辛トルコ名物!伝説のケバブ風味ポテトチップス』が発売された。
発売に際し、『エガちゃんねる』は9月1日に商品紹介動画を公開。
3日夕方時点で、75万回再生とこちらも順調な模様。しかし、この動画に不穏な空気が流れている。
「動画は、本場トルコ人に商品を食べてもらい正直にレビューをしてもらうというもの。
しかし、このポテトチップスには“豚肉”が含まれているのです。トルコはイスラム教徒の方がほぼ100％。
イスラム教では豚肉を食すことは“ハラーム（禁止）”とされています。
動画内ではトルコ人に“豚肉が含まれている”と説明する描写はなく、説明をせず食べさせていたのであれば大問題です」（全国紙社会部記者）
動画内ではトルコ人から90点の高評価を得ている同商品だが、豚肉に馴染みがなかったのか「ケバブの味はしないよ」と話すトルコ人も。
「本場トルコではケバブは牛肉や鶏肉、ラム肉などで作られます。豚肉以外のお肉で作られることが当たり前になっているため、現地の人もまさか勧められたケバブ風味のポテチが豚肉で作られているとは思っていなかったでしょう。
この動画には開発に関わったファミリーマートの担当者も出演していますが、事前のリサーチが足りなかったと言わざるを得ませんね」（前出・全国紙社会部記者）
